Angelo Moretti is a Canadian-Italian tenor, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Angelo’s voice and stage presence led him to many opportunities and successes at a young age, notably winning the hit Canadian TV Show, “The Next Star: Supergroup” with his pop band in 2014. His closeness with his Italian roots fueled his interest and passion for opera and the traditions that go along with it. He resonated with the art quickly and began pursuing it fiercely, especially after hearing the operatic greats on vinyl records and studying with soprano and former student of the late Lois Marshall, Cindy Townsend.
Angelo Moretti made his professional debut in 2022 with the Opéra de Montréal, performing as Ruiz in Verdi’s Il Trovatore and as the Teapot in L’enfant et les sortilèges with the Atelier lyrique in collaboration with the Orchestre de l’Agora.
In the early stages of his career, Moretti also performed as Count Almaviva in the University of Toronto Opera’s inaugural production of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and as Martin in Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land...
